What are you dreaming of?
Or are ya?
I’m not talking about the dreams you have at night during REM, so your answer should not reflect whether or not you wake up in the morning and remember your dreams. Maybe I should re-phrase my question then: Do you let yourself dream about the life you’d like to live? About what the world may be? About the love you desire? About what you long to create?
If you don’t, is it because it seems silly? Pointless? Never worked before? Has anybody every shown you how?
If you do dream, is it with abandon, excitement and anticipation? Or do you dream with reservation and an attitude of “yeah, I would love that, but with my luck…”?
It’s easier than you think!
Regardless of your background, tradition, or spiritual beliefs, you most likely have a hunch or hold an idea of a greater force at work when it comes to explaining this life. You may call this greater force the Universe, God, the Divine, or simply Life. The truth is, Life listens. We have all heard expressions such as “ask and ye shall receive” or “if you build it, they will come”, and so forth. What these expressions are simply indicating is that, if we go full force forward with our dreams, visions, and intentions, and expect life to support us on our path, Life will do just that. Where does dreaming fit in with all that? Dreaming up what you want to invite into your life is the simplest and most accessible way to let Life know what you want! And guess what? Life listens!
Here’s how:
Step one: Take out a sheet of paper and write out your dreams and anything you want to invite into your life. Any dream, vision, desire. Be specific, let you imagination flow, and don’t worry about “how can it be done?”, it will stop you dead in your tracks and give you a million reasons why this won’t work. Just dream. Have fun!
Step two: From your list of dreams/wants/visions, select one or two that are “hot” for you, that excite you. Now dream about them again, with as much detail as you can imagine. It is important that you visualize your dreams, that you see the details, and most of all, let yourself feel what it’s like in that dream. Feel the beauty, excitement, love, comfort and JOY.
Step three: Nothing more. Repeat step two daily as many times as you like. You know you want to.
What about action?
Now, OF COURSE for most real life goals, action is required to transform your dreams into reality. The reason to focus on dreaming right now is because it IS the first step and will in and of itself put incredible action in motion.
Dream on!
No, REALLY!
